
A lengthy list of polls on the enmeshment of religion and politics reveals that Americans are not progressing very much regarding keeping religion and politics in separate realms. Not good. For example:
CBS News Poll. June 26-28, 2007. N=750 registered voters nationwide.
"Do you think it is appropriate for political candidates to talk about their religious beliefs as part of their political campaigns, or do you think this is not appropriate?"
50% of ALL reg. voters said it's appropriate.
65% of Republicans said it's appropriate.
41% of Democrats said it's appropriate.
48% of Independents said it's appropriate.
